The old "Buffalo Soldier" Fort Davis National Historic Site is a short walk from the campground.

The world renown University of Texas' McDonald Observatory is just a short, 15 minute, Scenic Loop drive from your camp space.

We have brilliant night skies, cowboy hospitality and friendly folks year 'round.

You can walk the old "Butterfield
Overland Stage Road", visit our museums, eat at country cafes, shop the shops or just visit with the folks here...

You don't need a car, truck or mule to get around.  We are located right where you can relax and tour the area attractions, on foot and at your leisure.

For star gazers, we have the darkest night skies in all of the U.S. mainland.

That's why the largest telescope (433") and observatory in the world is located here in the Davis Mountains.

So definitely bring your binoculars or telescopes for crystal clear viewing of our wonderful night skies.

Bird watching and live, wild animal sighting is a favorite of all who come to these beautiful "Alps of Texas".

Your pets are welcome and children under 10 stay free.

Golf courses (the highest in Texas) are within a half hours drive.

Horse back riding can be arranged for your visit on the day you arrive.

We can also arrange for a Rio Grand river rafting trip of one day or overnight ride down the river among the beautiful canyons of the Big Bend.
